The High Ability Program Parent Recommendation Form for the 2022-2023 school year is now available! Students are identified and placed based on state and district criteria, which may include achievement test scores, student ability, and parent and/or teacher recommendations. Parent recommendations are considered but do not guarantee placement into the High Ability Program.
High Ability Criteria
Kindergarten - Select students are given CogAT based on an 85% or higher in both Reading and Math.
Grade 1 - All first graders are given CogAT as a universal screener for potential placement in high ability programming in 2nd grade.
Grade 2 - (First Year of High Ability Programming in the District) NWEA (Northwest Evaluation Association) score 85% or higher in Reading or Math CogAT Ability Test Teacher Recommendation Parent Recommendation
Grades 3 - 6 NWEA (Northwest Evaluation Association) score 85% or higher in Language Arts, Reading or Math ILearn IRead 3 Teacher Recommendation Parent Recommendation
Grades 7 – 8 NWEA (Northwest Evaluation Association) score 85% or higher in Language Arts, Reading or Math ILearn Teacher Recommendation Parent Recommendation
