Dear Warren Students:

I am overjoyed to have the opportunity to speak with you through the Letter from a Leader. My name is Mrs. Palmer and I am the 9th grade Dean of Students at Warren Central High School. This is my first year as a Dean at Warren and I am very grateful to be here with you. My office is located in the Freshmen Academy near the A&J intersection. As the 9th grade Dean of Students, I assist students with social and disciplinary concerns. My goal is for all students to follow our C.O.R.E. expectations in order to aid in a successful high school experience at Warren Central. Above all else, I want each of you to have a positive and productive four years at Warren Central culminating with receiving your high school diploma. I have met many 9th grade students, but please stop by and see me if we have not had the chance to meet as of yet. An exciting component of the model at Warren is that your administrators and counselors are assigned by cohort. This means that I will be your Dean for all four years while you are at Warren.

Prior to coming to Warren, I was a Dean at Herron High School in downtown Indianapolis. I was excited to transition to Warren Central High School because I wanted to work in a public school setting closer to my own community. I also appreciated the diverse demographic population that helps make Warren the Pride of the Far Eastside.

This has been an interesting time to transition to a new school as we are all experiencing the difficulties of the COVID pandemic. My suggestions for students during this time would be to follow the guidance that has been sent to families, shared on the announcements, and discussed by school staff. All students should come to school wearing a mask that covers their nose and mouth, should practice social distancing, should practice good hand washing, should sit in assigned seating in classrooms and the cafeteria, should self-monitor for COVID-like symptoms prior to coming to school each day, and should stay home and get tested if feeling sick. I am looking forward to students returning to the building and finishing second semester strong!
