Get your capes, bat-arangs, and green lantern rings, because a war is beginning to brew in DC. “Injustice” is a video game series turned movie, with a director, who aided in the creation of “Mortal Kombat: Scorpion’s Revenge,” making heavy production into the film.
As every person should know if they have played any game in the Injustice series or read it’s comics, the movie revolves around an alternate timeline in which Superman, under the effects of Scarecrow’s fear toxin, killed his wife, Lois Lane and his unborn son. The person who was responsible for Superman’s overdose of fear toxin was The Joker, Batman’s most dangerous clown based villain who made a crime-related residence in Gotham City. He also released a nuclear bomb on Metropolis, Superman’s home city, killing 11 million civilians in the blast, including Jesse Quick in the comics, a fellow speedster like the Flash.
Batman was in the process of interrogating Joker as to how he got the toxin and why he released it on Superman, when he arrived in a fit of rage and grief and rammed his fist straight through the Joker’s chest, killing him instantly.
The world, the Justice League, even Batman were all paralyzed in fear at the sight of Superman going against his moral compass, knowing that if Superman ever went evil or grew to a point of insanity, he would be the most dangerous living being on the planet than any super villain the world has ever seen. The reason why Superman would be dangerous as a villain is the fact that he can survive any mass destruction weapon that would kill millions of people in one go,like nukes, is a walking apocalypse with the forces of a god, and the only things that can hurt or weaken him is magic, the UV radiation from a red sun, and Kryptonite, a space rock from Superman’s home planet that is incredibly rare to obtain.
In the first game, “Injustice: Gods Among Us,” Superman becomes a dictator after forming a regime and Batman pulls the Justice League’s prime universe counterparts in to aid him in stopping Injustice Superman. In “Injustice 2,” the regime is disbanded and the Justice League is reformed to fight Brainiac, an intergalactic world collector and destroyer.
Both games have the same ending, with IJ2 (Injustice 2) defecting from this by giving the player the choice to choose what ending the game ends on. IGAU’s (Injustice: Gods Among Us) ending had Superman put into Red Sun Prison, a specific cell block for Superman, made by Lex Luthor, that has the same conditions of a Red Sun, while IJ2’s “Batman Ending” involved Superman being put into the Phantom Zone, an interdimensional prison made by Kryptonians, with the movie-going with the IGAU ending.
Justin Hartley, who has taken the role of Superman, has quite a taste in acting. He has acted and voiced as multitudes of individuals in shows and movies, such as Green Arrow in Smallville, or Elliot Bevins in CIS: NY.
Anson Mount voices Batman, Gotham’s Greatest Detective. He has also voiced Black Bolt, a man who can level a city with a whisper, in Marvel's Inhumans and as Captain Chrisopher Pike in Season 2 of “Star Trek: Discovery.”
The soundtrack of the movie is an absolute wonder, as the music represents the fear and terror of all the people who witnessed Superman’s rampage, while having the heroics and courage of Batman’s resistance moving in to stop him.
As of now, there are no errors to the movie in general, but may be revealed later on in the future, such as an animation error or something else.
The cost of a blu-ray disk of the movie will be around $30, but is an absolute must see and worth every dollar for fans of the DC Cinematic Universe.
