Ubisoft’s long-awaited Assassin’s Creed Shadow is set to be released on March 20, with it being the 14th installment in the series. The game is set to take place in Central Japan during the Feudal Era.

The game is said to offer new features and the beautiful scenery of Japan, but with the issues during development it is questionable if the game will be worthwhile, but that doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t be given a chance because it could exceed expectations.

In more recent installments of the Assassin’s Creed series, players have been able to select between two different potential protagonists, with a male and female character available to select from.

At launch, players should be able to switch between the two and are encouraged to experiment with both throughout the story.

Both characters offer different advantages. Naoe, the female protagonist, is more suited for players who enjoy a silent but deadly playstyle, and Yasuke, a much larger character, is more suited for players who enjoy a more direct combat-oriented playstyle.

When the game was announced, fans of the franchise had mixed opinions about the character Yasuke. The reason behind the controversy is because Yasuke would feature as a black samurai in Feudal Era Japan, with some fans claiming it was historically inaccurate and an insult to Japan, despite the character being based on the true story of the only African and non-Japanese samurai to exist. The game has not gone without issues, however. The release has been pushed back twice, with the game initially being set to release on Nov.15, 2024, and then more recently on Feb. 14 for further polishing.

Assassin’s Creed Shadow, at launch on March 20, will be available on Playstation 5, Xbox Series X and S and PC at $69.99, with pre-orders also available on all platforms. While it does have the potential to be a great game, with the delays in development fans are beginning to get impatient and are doubting whether it is worth the wait.
