Last day of school for students: May 30, 2013
Graduation: June 5, 7:00 p.m.
Grassy Creek has an active and supportive Parent Teacher Association (PTA), and we would love for you to be a part of this outstanding group! The Grassy Creek PTA helps our school in many ways. The PTA hosts many fun events for our students such as skating parties, our annual square dance and fitness night, McDonalds nights, and our Fall Festival. This group also helps out at our Back-to-School Nights each year. Our PTA donates several thousand dollars every year to school to help support our students and their learning.
At Grassy Creek, the PTA board consists of PTA officers, PTA committee chairs, a teacher representative, and the principal. This dedicated board meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at Grassy Creek. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings. The full membership of the PTA meets four times a year, usually in September, November, February, and May. You are invited to be a part of these meetings as well.
Grassy Creek staff members are encouraged to join our PTA, and from year to year, we achieve 100% staff participation. We hope you will consider joining Grassy Creek’s PTA too!! The cost is only $7.00 for an individual membership. Or, two people can join for $13.00.
All interested fathers (fathers, step-fathers, grandfathers, uncles, etc.) are invited to join the Grassy Creek Do Dads Club. This is a special service organization which helps to support our school functions. The club was founded in 1992. Its purpose is to increase father/father figure involvement in the lives of children, including helping to find surrogate father figures for those children living in single parent homes without an active adult male. The club does this by setting aside a special time each month for the father/father figure to spend time with his children. Each month, the Do Dads schedule fun activities which promote the development of the father/child relationship. These activities may include movie nights, game nights, hikes, sporting events, and cookouts. Chad Matchett is our Do Dads Club president. The school office has membership forms if you would like to be a part of this worthwhile organization. For more information, please contact chadmatchett@sbcglobal.net or at 891-0511.
Mission Statement for the Grassy Creek Do Dads Club: to enhance the self-esteem and improve the communication skills of our students while promoting inter-community relations through the encouragement and involvement of fathers and other adult male figures with our children.
